    Fascinate-U Children’s Museum
    Provides interactive exhibits, displays and classroom space for kids and their families. Hands-on displays allow children to let their imaginations run wild while learning through creative role-playing.

    Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 5 p.m, Closed Monday.

    Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum
    Housed inside a restored 1890 Cape Fear and Yadkin Valley Railroad Depot, the museum has two floors filled with exhibits highlighting local history and transportation. Guided tours, educational programs and media productions are offered. The museum includes a newly opened annex and a barn housing Cumberland County agricultural history. A farmer’s market is open next to the museum Wednesdays and Saturdays, except during winter months.

    Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex
    Includes Arsenal Park, the remnants of the Fayetteville Arsenal and the restored Victorian residence of E.A. Poe. Permanent exhibits and a changing gallery are offered along with monthly activities for children and families.

    Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Closed Monday.

    The 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum
    Tells the story of airborne forces from World War I through present day. Includes exhibits on combat and peace missions.
    Where: Building C-6841 Ardennes St., Fort Bragg
    Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday, except federal holidays.

    Airborne & Special Operations Museum
    The 59,000-square-foot museum is highlighted by a soaring five-story lobby. Military-themed exhibits include a theater and 24-seat simulator that shows visitors what paratroopers are trained to do.
    Where: 100 Bragg Blvd.
    Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays except federal holidays.
    Admission: Free. Movies in the Yarborough-Bank Movie Theater are $4 a ticket and rides in the motion simulator are $5. Combination tickets for both are $8. Patrons under 38 inches tall can ride the simulator for half-price.

    JFK Special Warfare Museum
    The museum collects, preserves and exhibits artifacts related to the history of the Army special operations.
